Advisory Broker

A broker who not only deals in stocks and shares on behalf of his client, but also advises on what shares should be bought and sold for the portfolio. The broker will contact the client to suggest changes in the composition of the portfolio, but does not have authority to trade on a completely discretionary basis. The client pays a commission on dealing and may pay charges based on the value of the portfolio.
