Central Register |
| A computerised database of around 50,000 investment firms which have been authorised to conduct investment business. The Register, required under the Financial Services Act 1986, is maintained by the senior investment regulator, the Financial Services Authority (FSA), and enables the public to check whether a firm is authorised. If a firm is authorised, it means that it has met standards of honesty, financial soundness and competence that are set and monitored by the regulator. |
