Company Announcements Office

The department in a stock exchange (for example the London Stock Exchange) which must be notified without delay by a listed company or its advisers of any major new developments affecting its assets and liabilities, financial position or the general course of its business which may lead to a substantial movement in the price of its listed securities. Announcements are submitted to the CAO, where they are processed and released to the market via the Exchange's data feed - the London Market Information Link (LMIL) and Regulatory News Service (RNS). Information vendors - newspapers and online vendors - subscribe to the LMIL and pick up the news from there.
