Credit Ratings Agency |
| An agency that rates the creditworthiness of companies, countries and other organisations that borrow money, based on detailed financial information. Some of the data is acquired directly by the agency and added to information available from public sources, such as the annual accounts. The rating may be sought and paid for by the organisation as part of a fund-raising exercise, or initiated by the agency. The biggest agencies for corporate borrowers are: Standard & Poor's, Moody's and Fitch. |
