| Registrars are commercial companies that maintain the register of shareholders for quoted companies. Traditionally, they would have to deal with the cancellation and reissue of share certificates, but as increasing numbers of shareholders use nominee accounts this burden is reducing. Registrars may be paid by their client companies to send out company communications with shareholders and process responses. |
